LETTERING



1.  To earn a Letter in the Varsity Division an individual must earn a total of 135 varsity victory points during the     

                season. To earn a letter in the JV/FS Divisions you must earn a total of 121  JV victory points.  You need 61     

                victory points for PE  waiver (Sophomores & Juniors only).  This may be changed due to a change  in 

                schedule, weather, etc.


    2.  Victory Points:


    (a)  Tri Meets:  An individual will earn 10 points for beating each schools' top individual. Earn 8 points for beating

                 the number two man etc.  This means you can earn a maximum of 20 points.

    (b)   Invitational Meets:  Two teams will be selected before the race.  Then the scoring system used in Tri meets 

                will be used.

    (c)  An athlete will earn 2 points for every practice she attends.  The athlete will lose 4 points for an unexcused 

                absence.  Detention counts as unexcused.  An athlete will lose 1 point for an unexcused tardy or early

                excused leaving of  practice. Detention or tutoring counts as an excused tardy if you come to practice after 

                detention or tutoring.


    3.  Awards:

    (a)  The athlete with the most victory points will earn the All American Award.

    (b)  The athlete with the most victory points from meets will earn the Most Valuable Award.

    (c)  The athlete with the best individual performance will earn the Most Outstanding Award.

    (d)  The freshman or sophomore with the most victory points will earn the Frosh Soph Award.

    (e)  The runner who has improved the most since starting the cross country program will earn the Most 

                Improved Athlete.

    (f)  No athlete will earn more than one award.

    (g) An athlete must earn their letter to receive an award or captain star.
